Lady Huskies improve to 4-0

The Durham Senior B Lady Huskies paid a visit to the Woolwich Wild on Nov. 3 and continued their winning way with a dominant 10-0 victory.

With that win the Lady Huskies are now 4-0 and in first place in the Southern Ontario Women’s Hockey League (SOWHL).

Kristen Nixon scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 8:04 mark of the first period from Elyse Bridgwater. Brooklyn Irwin got onto the scoresheet later in the first on a set up from Sara Lynch and Kaley Tienhaara.

Irwin notched her second of the game in the second period from Lynch. Tienhaara put the Lady Huskies up 4-0, assisted by Irwin. Avery Rowe increased the lead to 5-0 late in the second from Kristen Nixon.

Durham pumped home five more goals in the third period to the dismay of the hometown crowd. Tienhaara netted two more to give her a hat trick, Irwin scored twice more to finish with four goals for the game and Bridgwater potted one. Irwin, Jessica Pellegrino, Kristen Nixon, Tienhaara and Natalie Nixon picked up assists on the third period goals.

Micaela Stutzki was between the pipes for the Lady Huskies and picked up her second shutout of the season.

The Lady Huskies game on Nov. 10 in Durham against the Stratford Aces was cancelled.

The Lady Huskies are back in action at the Dog Pound on Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. against Woolwich.
