The Durham Senior B Lady Huskies welcomed the Woolwich Wild to the Dog Pound for a rematch on Nov. 17.
Although the result was closer, it was another convincing win, Durham’s fifth in a row, 7-0.
The first period ended scoreless with the Lady Huskies generating a number of scoring chances, but the Woolwich goalie kept Durham off the scoresheet.
The Lady Huskies got the offence rolling early in the second period on the power play when Jesse Pellegrino jumped into the slot from the point and fired one home after a couple nice passes from Kristen Nixon and Rachel Davis.
Durham went up 2-0 on another power play just over a minute later when Kate Gilkinson unloaded a low laser from the point that found the back of the net. Kristen Nixon and Natalie Nixon picked up assists.
The forwards got into the scoring when Kaley Tienhaara bulged the twine, assisted by Randi Aldcorn and Sara Lynch. Then the Lady Huskies went to their third power play of the period and Davis banged one home to stretch their lead to 4-0. Kristen Nixon and Elyse Bridgwater notched assists on the goal.
Brooklyn Irwin made it 5-0 with Durham shorthanded, when she stole the puck on the Wild inside their blueline and made no mistake beating their goalie high glove side.
Tienhaara got her second goal of the game, unassisted, at the 11:10 mark of the third period when she deked out the goalie.
Durham let off the gas a little and found themselves in penalty trouble as the game got a little chippy, but still managed to pump one more home when Davis got her second goal of the game on a one-timer from the slot, assisted by Bridgwater and Pellegrino.
The Lady Huskies finished with 38 shots on goal and gave up 27 shots, which Sara Pickard kicked aside to earn the shutout for Durham.
The Lady Huskies visit Seaforth on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8:30 p.m. and return home to the Dog Pound on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. when they host Monkton.
